Risk
Risk

Risk is a series of paintings of tamarisk, an invasive species that threatens native plants in the American West by sucking scarce water through its deep roots and salinating the nearby soil to prevent competition. The series is displayed as a column or altar hovering above offerings of salt and Poudre River water that are contained in vessels made of beetle-kill pine. The risk was also mine as I attempted to address each painting through a different process and style.
