The Neighborhood Project was a collaboration with people I lived near, but did not know well - people who thought that art was not for or about them. I listened, transcribed their stories, and drew objects that were important to their lives. I filled envelopes with the remnants of what we had exchanged during our conversations - pie, eggs (shells), birdseed, beer (bottle caps) and tea bags. We arranged the stories, drawings and envelopes over paintings of arcade style headshots to create portraits that need to be handled and explored to be seen.
