I grew up in a town and a time defined by Lucky Strike cigarettes, school integration, yes ma’am and no sir. My Southern Girlhood is a series of paintings and drawings exploring the obscure layers of beauty, nostalgia, history, pain and just plain weirdness enshrined in Southern traditions.

Did you know that magnolias evolved before there were bees? Pollinated by beetles, they are like a living dinosaur of flowering plants. These magnolias were painted to honor the memory of friendships that also evolved over lifetimes.
